husband's prep?
As far as men preparing for a deployment goes, is it normal for them to kind of get more 'into' the military before they go? DH is obsessed right now. He came home after PT this morning and watched an episode of BAnd of Bros. Then he came home for lunch and did the same thing. Tonight we watched Full MEtal Jacket. Then he plopped down and started reading a book about Delta Force. He also plays this shooter game on the computer sometimes at the same time as watching band of bros. He has hardly said a word to me the last few days as he has consumed the blood and guts on the tv, books, and computer.
IT's actually really starting to drive me nuts. I would like to have a normal convo, just for a while, about something other than his unit, or the unit on the TV, or the actual historical unit and the discrepencies that the TV shows in the historical knowledge of the unit:-), but I don't want to flip on him if this is a man's way of perparing? He says he's really excited, and maybe this stage of watching/reading/playing never ending gore is a part of that? Does anyone else's SO do this?

DH has always been almost that into the military but we still have normal conversations most of the time. Maybe mention to him how much you are going to miss him and then he will start to focus on you a bit more?

Nope, my husband didn't do any of that before he deployed

I cant wait to see your face when I get off that plane. "I love you more than I can put into words Christine. Seriously I have tried and I cant think of anything. My mind draws a blank, there is no word or words to describe how much I really do love you. And I mean that with my whole heart and fiber of my being."~DH |

Heehee maybe it's just mine. It's not that we don't have normal conversation, but it's just a shift in the amount of time he's focusing on this. He was a history major so he's always informing me how a certain movie or show is not historically accurate, haha, but there's an increase in all the blood and guts things he's spending time with. I think it's just his way of getting prepared. He's also hanging out with guys from the unit more which I read in one of those books is normal. I'll just ask him for 20 minutes a day with no graphic Spielberg on TV. :-)
