My soon to be exDH is on 96 hour recall. They are all packed up and ready to go whenever they get the word, so it usually isn't much notice. That's at least my experience with the Army, but maybe it's different for everyone. He's in the 82nd Abn.

We found out Monday that he was leaving Saturday. People found out the same day that they were leaving Wednesday. Depends on the unit, what group of people he's in, etc.
There is usually an "advance" team that leaves several days to several weeks/months before the main body. Our advance team left base less than 48 hours before our main body left. With all the stopovers they had enroute, they literally got there 12 hours before DB's group. It was silly. |

Yeah, it kind of sucks that it's really unknown most times . . D was supposed to leave in May, then they pushed it to August, then July, and now they're just waiting because it will be any day.
