Going away party

So hubby is deploying next Monday for 15 mos. We decided since we were going to have a ton of family coming from out of state to say goodbye and visit, we would throw a going away party.. a little stressful considering now they pushed his deployment date sooner and now Im going to have to share him with family on his last day. I was hoping me and the kids could spent the last day just hanging out alone, and I may ask his parents for half the night alone , but I feel rude knowing they drove all this way ( they will have Friday and Sat with us), but I know they would understand, its just telling them. How would you gals tell them without seeming rude.
His mom even offered to stay the extra day after dh left, but said she would understand if I wanted to be allone, but I dunno. Would you rather be surrounded by family or just want to be alone and ?

my husband and I wanted to be alone on our last night together. His family drove from modesto to us and that was about 6 hours. A week before hand we made reservations though for them to stay on the hotel on base. DH just told them "hey we reserved a room for you guys on base for the night before hand" And that was that. They madee a fuss about it and got their feelings hurt which was stupid but we both knew what we wanted and thats the way it was going to be. The came down and we went to dinner together and then we went home for the night and saw them the next day when he left. Sometimes you just have to put your guys feelings first and tell them exactl how it is. There is no reason for them to get upset. They are still getting to see their son. Atleast you didnt tell the mnot to come at all (-;

My thoughts are that you're going to have a lot of time ahead of you to be alone. Why not enjoy and embrace them while you can? You'll be alone soon enough, right? Hugs!!

i think that it is easier to be just you and him with all the family there it just makes it more stressful on you guys when it should just be you 2 thinking of each other

Thanks ladies! The party went pretty well and I actually didnt even have to bring anything up, around 4pm, they told us they were going to head back to the hotel and give us some time alone which was very much appreciated.
We really did need some alone time, dad needed to talkt o the kids and spend some one on one time with them without feeling like he was obligated to keep people enterained.
All in all, it was a great weekend!
