    Confused The Invisible War

    Advertisements

I am currently in a Victims course, my professor decided to vent her feeling about the military based off of this documentary called "the invisible war".
In her words "the military is another world that un-military Americans would be shocked about the lies and abuse that goes on & justice for victims is at a 2% chance in any type of crime and that she would not want to enter the military world of violence" The vets in my class were upset by her statements, but she wanted the entire class to watch the documentary before we stated our opinions to her statement about the military.

After watching the documentary, I was shocked. I was clueless about this film.
So i am waiting for my SO to call me, so I can speak to him about it. But I am curious to learn..
what has happened since this film came out to any military branches?
what are the thoughts of other Milso about it?
    any comments?
Also, after the film the vets in my class clearly stated that the documentary was a lie.
Just another way for the media to make the military look negatively. I personally believe that the military has a serious problem & victims are not giving any type of justice for what they have experience.

I will post a link of the film for anyone that has not seen the documentary.
I suggest everyone to watch "the invisible war"
    Please keep the comments respectful.

Keep in mind of others feelings towards rape and victims of crime.
    God bless.

This may do better in debates than H&R. That way people would be able to better discuss what they felt about the subject.

My husband had to watch this a while ago.

But yeah something like this doesn't really belong in H&R.

I want to make sure people will be sensitive towards the topic because it is a HOT TOPIC.

I agree. This doesn't belong in a "safe" forum.

Put trigger warning in the title. That won't hinder comments, but it will let people know that it is a "hot topic". There is no point to the post if it isn't debatable.

Nobody here would ever say anything hurtful about or towards rape victims though.

I agree, it belongs elsewhere. To use H&R Implies you don't want honest answers and opnions.

I can't watch this at work, so some questions:
Are the people in the video/documentary vets/prior military themselves?
Was this created by a reputable media company or the military?
    How old is the documentary?

There are 10 types of people in the world, those that understand binary and those that don't

Are you serious? That basically means you don't want anything other than your opinion posted. People CAN be and ARE respectful of rape and violent crime victims, I have never seen anything but respect here. There is such a thing as misuse of a forum, and IMO, this is one.

You really can't use this section of the forum to control people's responses to the kind of discussion you introduced here... It's not even about you. I'd suggest requesting the thread be moved if you're interested in meaningful discussion.
