    "Hero or deserter?"

    Thoughts on this?

Hero or deserter? Will Sgt. Beau Bergdahl be left behind as US withdraws from Afghanistan? | Fox News

I have never heard of this guy but stumbled on this article. When I mentioned it to DH, he had heard of him. I guess there is some question as to if he deserted, went AWOL or was captured.

I was just wondering what others thought and if you've heard of him.

I do t think I have enough info to really say one way or the other. When they say leave his unit, do they mean like tried to run away? Or just like left a patrol for a while? Either way, I do think they should continue to try and get him back.as for whatever happens after that, I guess an investigation is the beat route.

That's what sort of left me They seem to be completely sure he deserted/went AWOL, but they give no actual reason why they believe that to be true. It just seems confusing.

    Personal opinion.
I think he's a deserter. But I also think he is an amarican citizen who should be brought home and face trial.

Is there any info on why they think that? I've only read this article and the one posted above which doesn't provide much info.

On my phone, so no links for now.
But there were a couple articles detailing his actions immediately before he "left." What he told his family in letters, how he left his equipment/weapons, stuff like that made it look like he intended on leaving and not coming back.

I think that no one can say for sure. There are so many different accounts of what happened, that we can just not be sure.

I do know there is a family that misses him, a community that still prays for his safe return. I don't care how he got into enemy hands, I just want him to come home safe.
