    did the school posted a sign saying public things shouldn't be charged at that outlet? If not, then this is ridic. Even if they did, it's still pretty crazy.

    I think that this quote in the link article is important and key:

    Kamooneh told the news station that cell phones and laptops are often charged in public and commercial spaces without consent, yet there is no record of arrests made in those situations.
    If I was on his jury, that argument would give me considerable doubt as to what he was doing being outright theft. If the school has allowed this, then they've given passive permission for others to charge items.

    Idk the fact that it was only five cents worth makes it seem unreasonable to do anything but to tell him not to do it anymore, I mean really?? That's just ridiculous!

    Ridiculous. It's five cents of electricity, I think laptops and other "vampire" chargers end up taking way more than that.
