    Gift Giving

    Advertisements
When it comes to giving gifts for young family/friends would you rather the parent of the child (10 & under) tell you what to get the child (or a few different items) or would you rather just pick something you think they might like. Do think think it's rude or pushy if a parent does this?

If I don't feel comfortable with what to get the child then I don't hesitate to ask the parent(s) if there's anything in particular they had in mind, or if there is anything off limits.

If that person just brought it up out of the blue and told me what my choices were, I think I would be pretty put off by that. I guess I would consider it rude depending on exactly how it was done.

Suggestions are something I feel should be given IF asked for........making suggestions without being asked seems pushy to me

I was talking to my sister and she was telling me how they're going to Disney for Christmas so for their gifts I should get them gift cards to use at the park. It bugges me because I know my sister and it's not a suggestion. But I hate giving gift cards except now I feel like if I don't get them what my sister said she'll be all

Rude and demanding and to me a gift that is demanded is no gift at all. I'd get them whatever YOU want to give and your sister can suck an egg.

If I know a child well enough that I know they will love a gift, I don't ask for suggestions.

If I don't know a child well enough, I ask for suggestions.

If suggestions are offered up before I ask, I think about it and determine if what is suggested would be better than something else I've thought of.

If I thought my recipient would have a better experience at Disney if I got them a gift card, like for their own spending money, then I would send them the Disney gift card.

If I thought the parents would take the card to pay for the trip, I wouldn't send it, I would get something else.
