    really stupid. i appreciate changes to things like "policeman" and "fireman" but when it comes to things like penmanship and freshmen, the "gendered" part of the word just totally isn't there to identify. it's no different than a latin root of a word—it's essentially meaningless except as a building block.
    i honestly feel like someone created this to be like "haha, let's see how riled we can get people over something that doesn't make sense!"
