Growing up on the bleacher of my cousin's football games, I kinda got used to it. If it was just the coach smackin the back of my sons helmet for doing something stupid, i probably would think he deserved it (
) but that's only a "your a moron" smack..." anything over the top would probably piss me off.

Sorry about not being specific, I didn't even think about it. The team was having a bad night I guess. Like one of the players just gave up, didn'T even run he just stood there on the field and I guess that pissed the coach off BIG TIME!! The quarterback came off then field I guess and the coach kept hitting the kid on both sides of his head. He had a helmet on but still. If I was that boys momma ... I would be like
O no you don't!! I am ok with discipline. However, it's a football game there is no reason to get all bent out of shape.

I don't know why but I am looking at this situation from a mom's (not one for the record) point of view. I don't think I would be ok with someone hitting my kid. If there is a reason for discipline that's one thing. I have been raised were spanking is ok. Not hitting or abusing but spanking (when you are young obviously). But I highly doubt anything in a high school football game is worth the anger that this particular coach had. DF played on this same team and had the same coach and he said the coach would get out of hand a lot.

Well if the coach isn't up the standard, he can and probably will get fired before the next season. So the way the kids perform reflect on his coaching, and whether he keeps his job or not. I'm not saying that it made it okay, but the coach does have the right to be upset with them just giving up. Then again, that depends on the age group, too.

I guess it would depend on how many times he did it, but really I doubt it hurt the kid and it was more of an attention getter. If I saw it I would talk to my kid afterward and ask if it hurt or if the coach does anything worse. If he said no I would let it go.
And that is my official mom stance on it (and I am a mom). |

I grew up around football (from Texas) so that sounds about right. Those helmets are designed to take a hit. Now if it was PUNCHING in the head then no. Coaches have the moron tap and will push and pull on their pads too. Its a way of riling them up and letting know they mean business.
