Spin-off of "Teacher who slept with students"
In that case the woman went through "rehabilitation" and met certain standards - so the courst decided that she could be around children in her family and children of friends.
If someone in your family or one of your friends (or their spouse, etc) was convicted of pedophilia would you allow them to be near your children at some point? (edit - afterthough: I realize that the case I'm referring to didn't relate to pedophilia, she was convicted of statutory rape - but reading about her new "permissions" brought this particular question to my mind)

I say 'no way' ... if my uncle, for example, ever did something like pedophilia - convicted or not, "rehabilitated" or not I would absolutely never allow my kids near him, supervised or otherwise. This goes for closer members of the immediate family, too. The trust necessary just wouldn't be there, anymore, and I wouldn't want them influencing my children.
If a 'friend' did something like this then they simply wouldn't be a friend anymore.

Highly unlikely. Of course every situation is different. I just highly doubt I'd take the risk. If I did allow it, my children would be attached to my jip the entire time.

If its pedophilia, then it usually means there was a significant age difference, not like he/she was 19 and the other person was 16, so because of that, I highly doubt anything would change my mind when I say - hell no!

If a person was convicted because of legalities (the over 18 thing), but one of them was old enough in my mind to "know better"... then it would really depend... if it was anything to do with a child (not older teenager).. then NO

Yes, let me clarify. If it is a statutory rape thing, I would think they are an idiot, but that it not what I am talking about.
A pedophile is someone who is sexually attracted to a child and childish features. I honestly don't think that your sexual attraction can be changed. You can contain those feelings but THEY ARE STILL THERE. For that reason I cannot allow my children to be around someone like that.
