wedding after eloping?
If you are planning on having a wedding, when do you think is the best time for having a big wedding after you elpoe.
For me I would say as soon as the money is right and We have time, since the army takes up most of it.

Since this is a debate, I'm doing the opposite way.
I would rather see a big reception the another wedding. Going out after the face, being married, just seems odd to me. I just don't understand or agree with it. I know that for some religions, they don't accept you are married unless in that church. My IL's got married in March, moved away, then moved back and had a big church wedding. That is the one people recognize. Almost like the first one didn't exist anymore. I eloped. If I wanted people there, I would have had my big wedding right away. JMO.

2nd bolded: Normally I would agree, but some people dont always have that luxury... we had the money and everything to do a big wedding, but we didn't have the time to plan it and acutally have people come down because it was such short noticed and we were supposed to be leaving so soon afterward

i don't think there's anything wrong with having a big wedding after eloping/a small court house wedding. However I think people should be careful about promising people it will happen. We said we'd do it, and we just don't have the money. If we did have the money we'd probably spend it on something else.
Personally I think you should try your hardest to do it the way you want it the first time. It's hard to plan another wedding. It's not always possible, and if you can make happen, than more power to you. It's just not always very likely. |
