Dolls S/O
This whole barbie thing gave me flashbacks of working McDonalds as a teen (oh the horror of that job) well anyway whenever we had those little Barbies there would be at least 1 or 2 people a day who demand to not have either the white one or the black one.
For example I was working front counter and there was a Happy meal ordered, I never looked to see what color doll I was putting in the box just if it was a barbie or race car. Well I had put a black doll in there and the little girl came up asking for a white one because her dad did not allow her to play with black dolls . I was . So I switched out the dolls.I had people ask for one or the other. So after the rambling comes my question. Do you/ would you buy your child a doll of a different race? I had black dolls, white dolls, brown dolls, and when my brother got ahold of them sometimes green ones from paint. It never mattered to me or my parents. But I had a neighbor whose mom would only buy her white ones. so people give me your thoughts.

I dont think it really matters, I had all different colored dolls growing up... However I do think it is normal for parents to choose a doll whose skin color match's that of the child for familiarity, but I know many who mix it up as well... I don't believe either is wrong as long as the intent is not to teach one is better then the other

My favorite doll when I was growing up what a white doll. Took that sucker everywhere. I had dolls of all races but the doll that left the house with me was blond haired and blue eyes with big ass curls. I slept with a black doll that you could've sworn looked just like me (my eyes and smile are huge) so idk different strokes for different folks. Some people want their kids to have familiarity while others use diversity to show them that's how the world is.. My children will get the toy based on them liking the toy not based on its color.

I had all different kinds of dolls growing up! didn't matter to me or my parents! of course I will admit that whenever McDonalds had the barbies/hot wheels I always made my mom get me the hotwheels since my brothers had waaaay more fun with their hotwheels then I ever did with my little toy barbie...
