Should there be legal restrictions on porn?

Last night Dh and I watched a little bit of this show about porn. Don't ask me why. One of the things they talked about is how porn is not legal to buy or sell in some states, and how many states have laws about what is consider "obscene" and therefore illegal. Things on that list include, homosexual penetration, bondage, etc. Basically things that are considered "hardcore". Now I really don't care about porn, and I agree that people who make and sell porn should follow basic guidelines like not using minors in movies, not selling to minors, starting and X rated movies with a warning. I just don't really agree with there being laws about what types of sexually acts a person can choose to watch. There are situations where the producers of these types of pornographys can spend years in jail for making them.

I personally think this a free speach issue. I think people should have the right to put into movies whatever they want. What do you think?

As long as everyone participating in the act is over 18, I could give two ****s what they do, how they do it, who they do it to, in what position its done, and what extra's they use...

I think adults should be able to watch anything they want (assuming the videos are of consenting adults, obviously). Some of the laws really irritate me. I am not a huge porn watcher, but I have tried to order some soft core stuff for Dh and I to watch together from an internet site. In 2 different states I have been told they can't ship to me because the state laws are to strict and they could be prosecuted! We are talking super soft core, men and women with a story line, like a NC-17, barely bordering X rated film. Apparently I am a criminal in Utah and Colorado for wanting an adult flick...

As long as there are two (or more ) consenting adults participating in the porn I do not believe that it should be illegal, despite what is being shown.


The ONLY thing I do not approve of is beastiality and that follows somewhat along the lines of "consenting adults."

I do think that states can and should ban certain types of porn
Anything that features minors or beastiality (sp?) should be banned
Minors cannot be willing partners and neither can animals


Other than that, as long as it's consenting adults, I really don't care

Well i certainly agree with that. However, as long as the ONLY participants in the film are consenting adults, idk what the problem is.

Beyond kids and animals, no I don't think there should be restrictions. If everyone in the film is able to legally consent, then it should be legal for anyone who is also able to legally consent.

I think the only restriction should be the basic consenting adults one.
