If your husband/Boyfriend/Fiance/SO ever raised his hand to you out of anger would you stay with them?

October is Domestic Violence Awareness month.

I always said if a guy even hinted at violence towards me i'd be out but . . .

One time my husband took a swing at me. He got mad and it was a knee jerk reaction. He didn't hit me hard but the fact was he hit me out of anger.

I lost my damn mind, i FREAKED out on him. I told him that if he ever even gestured at me in a negative way again I would be so far gone before he even knew what happened, AND i would make 100% sure to press charges so it also reflected on his career.

And no, i don't think that was harsh. Maybe I should have just left. I think the warning was sufficient though, it hasn't happened since, and I doubt it would.

For me personally, the situation is not black & white...

If DH raised his hand to me out of anger I would leave for the night/few days/week... But that does not mean it would be the end of my marriage, it would depend on the circumstances leading up to the event, his actions afterward, if he was willing to go to counseling on his own as well as together, if he enrolled in anger management programs or something like that, ect...

Sometimes domestic violence is reciprocated...
By staying, sometimes that means those involved visiting with therapists getting on medication and working out their differences.

Just speaking from what I've witnessed with friends and their marriages.
