Encouraging Suicide
First, read this: http://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/tech...1020-h5pl.html
Do you think the man should be charged in the deaths of the people he allegedly encouraged to commit suicide? Do you think it should be illegal to shout "jump!" at a person on a bridge, like the article mentions?

Wow thats a hard one... I really do think something should happen to him because he did actively contribute to them killing themselves, but then again he physically didnt do anything...
maybe accessory to suicide? idk if thats even a charge...

I don't know...he didn't make them kill themselves, he just told them the most effective way to do it...information they could have gotten anyways from googling.

This. I have a few different views on the whole suicide thing, which I don't think I am going to express because it's a touchy subject for me and others, and I don't feel like being dogpiled.

. It's a really crappy situation and that guy needs some serious help, but he didn't force them to kill themselves. And they obviously were people who were already contemplating suicide. His intervention may have speeded up the process, but the people could get that kind of information anywhere.

What a slippery slope. Next, will it be a crime if you weren't able to effectively prevent someone from suicide? What about if you upset someone by breaking up with them and they commit suicide, is that a crime as well?
Was it horrible, yes. Ultimately, the person took their own life, which they may have done without him there. There is no proof that they wouldn't have. What it seems like is there always has to be someone responsible, someone to blame, every time someone dies. I feel bad for the families, but their loved ones killed themselves, which they would not have done if they were in the right frame of mind, maybe they should focus on healing. And, we have the issue of what crime is there, the victims were in other countries and as far as I know, the US law says that our citizens cannot be tried by our courts for certain crimes. That is why the Blackwater people are getting away with so much.
