"Roe" in Roe V Wade is no longer an abortion-rights advocate - Debates

This came up in my textbook while studying my current chapter...

There is one irony in all of this: "Roe," the pseudonym for the woman who started the suit that became Roe V Wade, never had an abortion and many years later, using her real name, Norma McCorvey, became an evangelical Christian who published a book and started a ministry to denounce abortions.

I've been in a lot of debates on Roe V Wade - but i never knew that she, herself, never made use of this thing that she came to represent and that she preaches against it.

I don't really know what to say...

I'm glad she fought for the right we she did, I suppose.

its actually old news. So to speak. by the time they made the decision she couldn't have an abortion. It was never about her specifically since they knew the decision would not be made in time to matter, but more for all rights of women yadda yadda yadda. but she became a born again and changed her stance.

Yup. Knew that. There's some pretty unbiased videos on the issue, dealing with "Roe's" switch, and of course, some biased ones as well.

Yeah. She strikes me as an incredibly unstable and confused person. She claimed that the lawyers used her as a "pawn" and in her book she wrote about her lesbian sexuality. Really hard for me to take her seriously. I also heard that her daughter (the one who was not aborted) is a pro-choice activist now, but I can't remember her name so maybe I made that part up.

Either way, her opinion isn't as significant as the SCOTUS one

I read this my senior year of high school, i heard that she completely regrets even fighting for this to be legal.

Well I'm glad she had her "moment" because it's one of the few things I truly side with.
