Homosexuality: Psychological or Biological - Debates

I do not want this to be a "mean" forum. At all.

I am not anti-gay or anything like that. I could care less anyone's sexual preference.

I have a discussion forum in my Human Sexuality class here is the question:

What Determines Sexual Orientation? A variety of theories have tried to explain sexual orientation, particularly homosexuality. Psychosocial explanations of homosexuality relate to life incidents, parenting patterns, or psychological attributes of the individual (see p. 238 texbook).
Biological theories explain homosexuality through genetic factors and biological predispositions (http://www.flyfishingdevon.co.uk/sal...ones/tahir.htm).

Much of the research done over the years is contradictory and to date no definitive scientific answer exists. Which approach (psychosocial or biological) makes more sense to you? Give evidence to back up your point of view (you may need to research a theory in order to do so). Please be respectful of your classmates’ opinions on this issue.

I was wondering your opinions. I AM NOT ASKING IF YOU THINK HOMOSEXUALITY IS RIGHT OR WRONG.

I believe it's biological, just like people are naturally attracted to the opposite sex, it works the same way for people who are attracted to the same sex.

Eh, I don't know anymore...I never really think about it...so I don't care either way.

ETA: I will say that sometimes, people DO choose it. I know for a fact.

Biological basis, but its psycological/social how a person expresses it, i.e. whether they come out as teenagers and are comfortable with it their whole lives, get married to an opposite sex partner and have children, and come out when they're much older, or repress it their whole lives.

I'm quoting myself because I want to elaborate. Mostly, I do think it's biological, because my gay friend has known he was gay for as long as he can remember...I know he didn't choose it.

But SOME people, I know they chose it.

True homosexuality is biological. Nobody wakes up one day and says "Hey, I think today I'll become a member of a hated minority!"

I don't know much at all about bixesualism or pansexualism, so I'm not addressing anything like that.
