Same or different?
Three news stories in the last week:
guy shoots doctor who provides late-term abortions: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/31089000/ guy shoots unknown military guy serving on HRAP duty, just because he's miliitary: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/06/02/us...ruit.html?_r=1 guy shoots people at Holocaust Museum in DC, kills security guard: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/31210340/ So, in your opinion, same or different? Why? |

Both, gah I'm so indecisive.
But they're all an example of someone shooting and killing someone because of their personal beliefs (the last radio report I heard on the Holocaust Museum shooting reported that it was thought that the gunman was a white supremecist, please correct me if I'm wrong) However they're also different. Dr Tiller's clinic has already closed, but I doubt that recruiting centers and the Holocaust Museum will close. Also Dr Tiller was also a specific target, while the other two seem to be show up and shoot whoever we see that fits their (broader) description. To me, each of the deaths are equally sad and their families are in my thoughts. And I really wish I knew how to fully express my thoughts well today.

Thank you all for your response. I agee that they're all the same. I think what bothers me the most though, is the words of the guy who shot the soldiers at the recruiting station in Little Rock, because honestly I think these words apply to each of these horrific crimes, it's just that this particular guy had the balls to verbalize it. I'm still looking for the quote that I read this afternoon, but he basically said it isn't murder because it's 'justified.'
Creepy. Scary. |

The guy who shot him did an interview and kept saying that he wanted to warn military people to get out of the military... He said it was justified because we are in Iraq and on another site, I saw a guy who issued the same warning.... I Pray to God that our leaders are paying attention here... Those Internets groups pass info on to each other, and now our military are being warned... The guy I saw post that "military" warning was on a Christian site too... I debated with him and told him he needed some help. But, now this guy says that SAME THING... |

here's the quote I read this afternoon that just stuck in my craw, because I can see each one of these defendants using the same excuse: http://customwire.ap.org/dynamic/sto...MPLATE=DEFAULT
In a Tuesday interview with the AP, Muhammad, 23, said he didn't consider the June 1 killing a murder because U.S. military action in the Middle East made the killing justified. "I do feel I'm not guilty," he said in another collect call. "I don't think it was murder, because murder is when a person kills another person without justified reason." This guy truly believes that his action was 'justified,' he believes it was okay to kill the kid at the recruiting station. The one in knasas truly believes it was okay to kill the doctor. The one in DC truly believes it was okay to kill someone at the Holocaust Museum. They really, truly believe this. |
