tubes tied, snip snip or both? - Debates

I'm not sure this is something to debate but I'd like some thoughts.

I suppose Im just a jealous person but if got my tubes tied John would have to get snipped. I feel that if take away my ablilty to have more children so should he. If we ever got divorced I think it would make me sick if he could move on to have more kids and I couldn't.

I know some of you on here have your tubes tied or your husband has had a vasectomy. Why did you chose yourself or him? Anyone here have both of you done? Would any of you feel like I would?

I have thought about having my tubes tied...because I am 99% sure I am done. There is still that 1% though that I may want another so for me the best choice was to get the 10 year copper Iud.

For us, if we go the permanent route it will be John getting it done. I don't like the idea of having to have surgery to get my tubes tied and I've heard the risk is higher for me to get my tubes tied than for him to be snipped. If I had to get a c-section that would be different. And he has stated he doesn't want anymore kids. I'm trying to work on that. We decided we will talk about it again when he goes on sea duty but he is pretty set in not wanting anymore kids. I would like to have 1 more so if we would ever divorce then I could still have that 1 more if I found someone and I was still able to get pg. But if John decides that absolutely no he doesn't want anymore there shouldn't be aproblem with him being snipped even if we would divorce. Not that we are talking about divorce or anything but only God knows what is in store for us.

I have an IUD too (LOVE IT) but what Im wondering is that if you have your tubes tied would it make you jealous if later on you got divorced, moved on met some one wonderful but can't have more kids mean while your (ex) husband can have more kids. Am I the only one that would be upset by a decision we made together for ourselves? Then things didn't work and I can't change my mind but he can.

I want him to do it because shoot I dealt with pregnancies and deliveries, the least he can do is go through the snipping part. scaredy cat though. I might be the one that says forget it, quit whining, I'll get my tubes tied.
If we get divorced and he has more kids, it doesn't bother me too much because I won't be paying for them.

We're not getting divorced or getting my tubes tied or anything. I just have ALOT of time to think about things after the kids go to bed.

I understand what you're saying about feeling jealous. I doubt I would because I don't want anymore, but you never know how I'll feel if I was in that situation. I can't say right now though.

Ya, I would be jealous, mad, seeing red type deal. Especially if he went ahead and had more but said no to having more with me so I went ahead and tied my tubes so after the divorce I couldn't have anymore no matter if I found a new guy, wanted more, and was still able to or not. Preciously why I refuse to get my tubes tied and say if he is dead set on not having more kids then he needs to be snipped.
