When you post a thread with a problem/issue

    Do you want-
Honesty (he cheated, he'll cheat again, and he most likely doesn't love you)

Comfort ( it was totally a one shot deal and will most likely never happen again)

    or

Sympathy (it sucks when you get cheated on).

I'm wondering because my inclination is to be honest, if tactful, but I'm not always sure that's what the poster wants.

I like to get all three, which is one of the good things about getting advice on this board. People are diverse in their responses, and while some make you feel better and comfort you others tell you like it is and help you see things from an outside view.

But in answer to your "question", at first, I was more in the comfort/sympathy.

I tend to go that route, still, unless the OP is being flat out naive and/or still wearing the "rose tinted glasses" and keeps trying to "justify" in their thread when they don't get the "answer that they want".

Or I could just be pissed off all the time now.

Depends on the situation. If i'm talking about my parenting skills () i want honesty. If i'm asking what someones thoughts are about a situation with DH, honesty again. Now if i'm saying i had a bad day and such and such happened...i want sympathy bisches!

Bah. Let me answer again, and damn your unsupportive ways for making me type it twice!

I generally only vent about issues I think people on here can help me resolve (like my baby not sleeping in his crib, Colorado withholding my tax return, cookies not rising correctly at sea level, etc.) so I most definitely post for honest advice.
