    Religious Schools

    Advertisements
Pretend for a moment that you're atheist. Your child has been 'raised atheist' as well. You move to a new place, and the only schools in your district are horrible. Bad teachers, crime/gangs, run down buildings, poor curriculum, etc. The only private school in the city is a religious school where children are taught the tenets of that religion along with math, English, etc. You can not home school the child.

Would you send your child to the private school, even though you are atheist; or would you send him/her to public school?

I would, I think it would be a good way to teach "some people believe A" but we
    believe "B" tolerance for others.

    hope that makes sense

Public school, and teaching them stuff they need to know at home. There's no way in Tartarus that I'd ever pay/support any religious institution ever again.

EDIT: Or I'd send them away to a great private school somewhere.

so im going to be a PITA (shocking, I know)... i wouldn't move to a district where the schools sucked and those were my only options, esp. because of what my personal feelings on religion would be in that case...

(but, if it was life or death, i would send them to the private school)

I'd send them to a private school but then again I was raised Jewish and went to a Catholic High school. So I don't see the big issue.

I'd send them to the private school.

But I'm with PITA, when my son is school aged, we will choose the area we move to based on the school systems.

Public school. I just feel that something like that shouldn't be put on the child. Unless they want it. When I have children I want them to decide that for themselves. I don't want to force them into religion. I was sent to a private, religious school which caused me to rebel against religion as a whole.
I plan on giving them the choice. But if they're too young to decide I'd put them into public.
