    Question baby talk

    Advertisements
I was with my FMIL the other day and she was baby talking df's 4 year
old nephew, and for some reason it was driving me bonkers. I don't know
if it was because my parents and sisters with kids are so hard core
NO BABY TALK or if she just gets on my nerves.

anyhoo to my question, what are your opinions on baby talk.
my oldest sister would flip out when someone would baby talk
her kids, even when they were babies.

what about you with your children, or what are your plans
    when you have children.

I think baby talk is pretty benign, but I would imagine talking to the child with a normal voice using normal words would be more beneficial.

I don't mind baby talk. The thing that bothers me is when people repeat the same word a million times. Like "your so cute, yes you are, you are so cute!" and they just keep saying it over and over haha.

My mom always talked to me like I could understand, and I started talking early for my age so that's what I intend on doing if I have kids.

This might sound kind of strange, but I usually do the same thing with my dog. I talk to her like she can understand, lol.

She just drives me nuts with the things she will say to him

    "Is Jay hungee?"
"It is time to get in the bafie" (the bath)

I do not like it. They are in the prime time to learn, and if you speak in gibberish to them, that is what they will speak.

I don't believe I've ever baby talked with ethan.

I'll use a sweet voice and say things like "Hey sweetie pie" "momma loves you" etc...

What exactly is your FMIL saying in baby talk and how is she saying it?!

I always thought there are more definitions to baby talk than just saying "goo-goo gaga"

Now THAT would annoy me too!!!

I'm almost positive my son's speech therapist is against conversing like that!
