Tipping at a restraunt (s/o of venting thread)

Do you feel like you have to tip?

Do you tip based on service or do you just tip 15% regardless?

I tip based on service. If I eat at a buffet I do not tip as much as I normally would cause I am getting my own food.

Yes, I feel like I have to tip. (and I hate that)

We tip based on service, but we've never had a reason to leave less than 15%.

I really think that we shouldn't be tipping, tipping should be included IN their wages.

No I don't feel like I have too.

I always tip. I got horrible service once and left $1.

We always tip about 15%. The only way the waiter or waitress gets more is if the service was good.

Unless the waitress/waiter does something rude to like a huge degree then I always tip.

I actually only tip 15% if they suck but aren't rude. I always tip 20% or more if they are good.

I tip based on service. Typically I will always leave a tip of at least 15-20%, even if the service is not great, but I will make a point to not leave a tip if the service is horrible. Like, disrespectful or attitude from the server, leave us getting attention of other servers, make us wait for an hour after we are finished eating to take our payment, terrible. That kind of stuff gets no tip from me at all.

We tip between 20% and 30%, I've been a waitress and I know how much it can suck, I also know that they're probably making beneath minimum wage and working their asses off, and in this economy less people are eating out and if they are, they probably not tipping as well. Since we have yet to really be affected personally, by this financial shitstorm, we make it a point to tip really well.

I always tip at least 15% but I will tip up to 50% and more depending on how good the service is! We don't go out often at all, so I always figure in a huge tip as part of the cost before we even leave the house. I've lived on tips before, so I know how hard it can be!
