    "God will punish you appropriately"

Do you think that people can in anyway know what God will and will not punish someone for?

Do you think that is very Christian like comment?

Someone left that on our office's voicemail concerning the MD Repeal of the death penalty
this is like a bad movie, and i'd give it a 5 on my netflix

    I think it's fear-mongering personally.

I think to the people that don't believe in God or some people, that will hold no validity because well, they don't believe in God.

And for the Christians that say that, yes it says that in the Bible that people will be punished according to their sins, but I don't believe it's right for someone to say that to someone else unless they both are in the same mindset.

I just think that I have NO CLUE waht God will punish someone for and why. I thought that this was all supposed to come down on judgment day, let the chips fall where they may then, etc

No one completely knows God's will to a full extent. That comment is ridiculous and people who say things like that are usually uber-Christian. I don't want to knock them, but it's really silly to try to scare someone into a belief system, don't ya think?

I think it's a way for people to be condescending and mean without saying anything apparently mean.

I do feel that evil people will get their own judgment, but I can't possibly know what it would be.

That was a bit dramatic and unnecessary of him. I also don't think there is much in the Bible he could use as conclusive evidence for or against the death penalty to make that statement.

As for Christianity; yes, there are certainly sins outlined in the Bible that we are told not to partake in. Yes, the Bible says that all of our actions, good and bad, will be judged. There are certainly things we can point to in the Bible to know God says not to do.

He'd be a pretty effed up God if his message was, "I'm going to judge all your actions, both good and bad, but I'm not going to tell you what I think is good or bad. You have to figure it out yourself with no direction for me. And if you're wrong and you get judged for it..oh well."

Um, no. That's not how God is. The Bible is pretty clear about a lot of things so we're not wondering how we are supposed to live our lives.

    I would have laughed too.

Personally, I don't think anyone knows the will of any god if they so exist.
