    is throwing a piece of fruit on the ground "littering"? why or why not?

    Nope. It's helping the birdies. But it should only be done away from where people have to walk.

    technically yes because its trash, but I always consider it biodegradable/compost so no.

    It depends where you throw it. If you're out in the woods, then no I don't consider it littering. If you throw it down on a sidewalk or parking lot, then yes it is littering.

    i'm inclined to say the same. including insects & fertilization for the soil. but on the other hand, what about the people who have to mow the grass. what if they get an apple-core stuck in their tractor?

    I agree with the previous poster if you throw it somewhere the birds/wildlife can get to it then no it's not...but in a parking lot or sidewalk yes I think it is.

    Technically, yes. But, I would only think it was inappropriate if you threw it out on the road or sidewalk.
