Smoking While Pregnant and Not Pregnant

    Advertisements
I've seen it all around, where a woman that is a smoker, stops smoking for a pregnancy, but then starts back up after having the baby. For those that have done this, I am wondering, why? As a nonsmoker I am curious to know why you don't continue not smoking, since you've already done without for 9 months.

No kiddo's for me but I have a friend that was a smoker pre-baby stopped while preggo, then started again, she said it was because the stress of a newborn was getting to her.

Like I said no kids for me just quoting her opinion on the subject.

I guess it's better than smoking while preggo IMO. As long as they aren't doing it with the baby there, I have no problem with it.

I quit the day I found out I was pregnant with Trent. He was about 3 weeks old and I had an urge to smoke, bummed one off a friend, smoked it and thought I was going to get sick! Have no idea but the taste was not what I remember before.

Really? That seems crazy to admit so care-free? Do you smoke alot?!

I personaly am I social smoker. I know the stree relief it can provide. Maybe that is why I will partake AFTER I am pregnant. The health of my child is number one and that is why I quit when I am preggo. Nothing is more inportant to me than there health and well-being.

I don't care if they do...I'm just curious as to why go that long not smoking, and then start up again? I(again, as a nonsmoker) would think that 9 months would be good progress with kicking the habit and women would try to continue not smoking.

I quit smoking each time I found out I was pregnant. (I have 3 kids)

For me it was easy to quit when I was pregnant because I didn't want to "harm" (for lack of word use) the unborn child.

I have also tried quitting a couple other times as well.
It's more of a habit now. I will quit again eventually, but a little hard when DH smokes as well.
