The New York Times
As a spin-off to eelo's threads on Palin, I have a question to poll. Do you believe the NYT is a credible and objective news source?

they have an 'attitude' about things that decides what stories they pay most attention to ('all the news that's fit to print' right?), as all news organizations do.
but as far as verifying information and sources, i think they are excellent. i think the only way to get an 'objective' view is to read a wide variety of news sources. a good counter to the NYT for me is The Wall Street Journal, but I have to admit, NYT is my favorite.

 I think they're probably as credible as most major news outlets, but yeah, it's good to get the story from several different places. |

As far as news goes, I think they care about their reputation enough to make sure they portray things accurately. But I think all news has a spin, and it's hard to know what's objective and what's not from ANY news source.

 To add to this, I find it is often the most helpful to read the same stories in international news outlets...you'd be surprised how many biases you can pick up in our media when you read how someone farther-removed from the situation interprets it.
