    Child Brides

    Advertisements
What are your views and feelings of Child Brides?

Child Brides are girls as young as 10-16 getting married.

    With parental Consent? Without?

A 28 yearold wedding a 14 year old with both sides parents agreeing?

A 11 year old getting pregnant and then running to another state to wed the father who is over the age of 18?

Forcing a 13 yearold into marriage because of religon even though they live in the USA?

I woke up and fell into this dream
Happily ever after just took time
Once upon this broken heart of mine

this is the way a fairytale feels
This is the way I know it's real

I'm not really sure how to answer this one ....

I can actually see a 17 yr old getting married. Just as long as they understand what it means....

I think it is a form of child abuse.

I think once you hit 16+ it gets a lot more iffy but still that is a huge commitment.

Okj I am going to edit the org. People are focusing more on the older ages (17)

For me personally, if you need to get mommy's consent to get married (and it isn't part or your family's culture/religion... because I am not going to touch that, I am just talking about American Law's here) then you probably aren't ready.

And if you are FORCED into a marriage (regardless of your culture/religion) then you are also probably not ready.

Basically... there are laws to protect children for a reason. You don't look mature getting married if you needed mommy or daddy to sign a permission slip and you look like abusive parents if you force your child into a marriage.

    Just putting this out there.

I watched a show on WE tv last night about this. They had about 5 (give or take) girls on there that were/are child brides.

My mom just mentioned this today! We were in a shop that sold lots of little white dresses which she said were for child brides. I said they were for first communion!

I completely agree! There was a girl who posted on Yahoo Answers who was being forced to marry an older man for religious reasons but she didn't want to just because she didn't feel ready to have sex or be a wife. I told her to call CPS. Ok, if the kid WANTS to, maybe, thats your choice and America has freedom of religion blah blah blah, but if you are forcing her, oh no no no. CPS should get in there and take those kids away.
