I'm not against the death penalty, but in general I think it should be used only in certain cases.

Drunk drivers, generally do not fall under that for me... though I do think they are deserving of jail time, and a pretty strict rehab program, and the revocation of their licenses.

But, death penalty for making a bad choice, which affects other people, but could also have extenuating circumstances... No.

ETA: I think in that case, the cost of getting and staying sober, and having to live with the fact that your poor judgment and clouded decision making and reactionary skills took someone's life... is more than enough torture after the above has happened.

No - most people who accidentally kill someone live in their own private hell for the rest of their lives.

This is tough for me. I am not a religious person, but I do knwo a little about the bible and is says that we shoudl turn the other cheek and not judge. But on the other hand, they have committede a henious crime and I think that they should be punished heavily for it. just think about it this way...If they get the death penalty, they will more than likely have to wait years before the sentance is actually carried out. That is plenty of time to refleect on what they did nad think about what is comming. Also, the longer they sit ina jail cell, the longer we tax payers have to pay for their crap!!!!!

    Just my opinion

I think its a more fitting punishment to have to live the rest of their life with the guilt and mental anguish. While I support the death penalty, and I am aware that people can sit on death row for years and years, I feel death is the fast track out for these people.

I don't think so either. I think the death penalty should be reserved for more heinous crimes, premeditated, multiple murders, rapes, etc. Like others said, I would hope that the guilt would be enough punishment for those people.

I don't mean to offend...But I don't see how you can consider something like that an acident. They are drunk and climb behind the wheel, that is their own stupidity.
