that America has lost its' "Morale Compass"??

Sorta weird but this morning I wastching on the History Channel a doc. about the '60s. I kept thinking to myself we aren't like we used to be. We used to care about each other. And then as I am combing through CNN I ran across this video and have to agree with the Police Chief that yes to me we have.

So what do you think? Why or Why not?

:eidt I forgot the video http://www.cnn.com/2008/CRIME/06/05/....ap/index.html

Yes, I believe the root of it is that people are caring about material possessions more than ever. Maybe it is because there are more things to own.

It's interesting, because it seems that way based on the things you hear on the news and through word of mouth (i.e. people not stopping to help someone who is hit by a car), but when I notice things in my day-to-day life, I feel like people are more caring than ever

I think it's a combination of people not caring and then also the News Media SHOWING people not caring. There are people who still do what they can to help others, but they don't say anything about them. The media is a cold, without morals organization!!!

I think it's the media playing up the fact that people don't care or that they have people too scared to care. You see people getting killed for pulling over to help the disabled car on the side of the road, people being mugged or beat up for giving someone money that wants more, people being raped/beaten/killed for letting someone into their home for help.

I think that people are more apt to help "quietly" now than put it all out there.

    Moral or Morale?

    They're two different things...
