Why is it that politicians can raise so much money for campaigning, but nobody can raise enough money for everyone to have healthcare, food to eat, good schooling.....

What a flipping waste of money!!!!!

Even though I have donated to campaigns this political season, I agree with you, and I have a bit of guilt over it.

I guess because there's so much bureaucracy involved in charitable organizations. Tell me you don't feel a bit sick and disillusioned when you find out exactly the percentage of money that is actually being contributed to your chosen charity? I know I do.

I haven't donated to a specific politician, but I agree with you. Why are individuals, corporations and unions getting all involved in political fundraising, when that money could go elsewhere? Just another reason why we need campaign finance reform, IMO.

you can actually bring food to a shelter, I do that every now and then. Or make food for someone on the street..
of course I've had it given back to be because they wanted a drink instead of food.
But ya do what you gotta do!

    OP

    I agree completely!

Sure - it costs money to campaign ... but millions? No, don't think so... That money *should* be spent elsewhere.

I will never donate money to a political candidate. I will always chose a charity organization over some political campaign in which the money will be used to just slander half the time. Animal causes will get my money ANYTIME over any political candidate.

We don't have extra $$ but I volunteer my time to a food bank in town besides our church. I agree with the OP
