    Question Working for someone...

    Advertisements
I put this here because I figured it might spark a debate...

Ok where my DH works there is a supervisor who is older and is a known, self proclaimed nazi (skinhead, something) and has the tattoos up and down his arms...But he is made to keep his arms covered at all times...

They try to not put cetain people on projects to work for him...My husband for one would never work with him...

I guess my question is, do you think its healthy for a work place to hire people such as this man when you have to scan your workers to see if they work for him if it wouldnt cause problems?
Are you scrappy enough for me

Well, I believe by law, a place of hire can't turn him down just for those reasons.

    I may be wrong...

No you are right, but do you think that people whom he wouldnt like should be forced to work for him? I know that they have hard times getting him workers for projects.

They can't not hire him because of his beliefs. I don't think it's fair to discriminate against anyone for their beliefs, whether they are idiotic or not. As long as he does his job and doesn't cause any problems for other people I don't see a problem. But if he were to cause problems, cause issues with work production or threaten other people, I'd fire him in a second.

I believe they absolutely CAN choose to not hire/fire an individual that others cannot work with.

If he is making other employees uncomfortable that can be a huge drain. It is not for race, religious, gender or disability reasons, so I don't see why they would keep him around.
this is like a bad movie, and i'd give it a 5 on my netflix

He can be whoever he wants to be outside of work. But IN the work place I think he should suck it up and put his close-minded opinions on the back burner so that it DOESN'T hinder work production.

I guess he wants my dhs boss to share some of his workers and none of them will go, but he (the nazi guy) cant make people work for him...He is on a thin line because he is displaying his tatts when he has to have them covered.

I think as long as he leaves his personal beliefs at the door, and does his job well, it shouldn't be a big deal.

Now if he's causing a problem at work, then yes, he should be let go.

    Another question...

Would you yourself want to be forced to work with someone or for someone who is someone who hates someone like you (be it gender, color, sexual orientation)?

If they were professional and didn't attack my personal believes or character, I wouldn't have a problem with it.
