Calling all those latin/hispanic women out that (and non latin/hispanic) I have heard some debate about what is the right way to address a Mexican/Spanish American. What do you think is right? Or what is your opnion?

I can go by anything because I am such a mix of hispanic cultures. I'm ok with anyone.

I'm half mexican and half european/africa/american indian mut
but I have blonde hair and blue eyes... go figure?

when my friends met my extra mexican family
The loving started calling me the "cracker with bean dip"

IDK? My family prefers to be called American actually?
I think that Mexican is appropriate where that person is from like Mexico, like mi familia
    mexican-american works
    or Panama Panamanian-American works
but if your not sure latino or hispanic work

    Personally

    I think they all work
    but Chicano...
    Chicano is a dated term
refering to crop workers in California

I know that my Great Uncles are offended by that term
because through the 20's , 30's and 40's it was a derogatory term

and it wasn't until the 60's and 70's that "Chicano" was used as anything but an insult.
    so yeah...
    be careful with that one

    but that's just my perspective....

I honestly don't care as much,
Mexican is fine with me, and Hispanic is good too.
I'd rather be called by my name though.

I get irritated if people call me Mexican, because I am NOT. I was not born in mexico, I was born in Houston. So I correct them and tell them that I am hispanic.
