I love this idea and wish they would impliment it nationwide immediately!
It's been used in a few places and those students are doing SO MUCH BETTER than ever before- the co-ed factor can cause serious issues with everyone - youth, pre teens and teens alike.

Of course co-ed is necessary, so lunch and auxillery classes shouldn't be - but general learning should be seperated, absolutely.

I love the concept. I would vote to approve it in our schools if it ever came to the ballot.

I'm all for it. I think it would be conducive to an increased learning environment.

I think it's a bad idea.I think both sexes benefit from being in classes together.Chances are, when you get a job it's going to be open to both sexes.Plus, boys and girls are competing with each other in regards to jobs and higher education.I think they need a level playing field and I'm not sure single sex classes would achieve that.I took honors and AP classes in high school and I don't feel I would have benefited at all from single sex classes.

ehh, i'm on the fence. I think if you want to control your children's learning environment then you can pay for them to go to private schools that offer what you are looking for. But in public schools, i don't think so.

    I will miss you SOS...
Please be wary of what you post remember OPSEC is not just another acronym.

For me I am with it all the way. I do agree that kids need to interact therefore maybe one or two classes out fo the day should be mixed gender but the rest be seperated. Especially with PE. I know that when I was in school so many girls didn't do anything because of the boys and didn't want to be made fun of.

What good is it going to do? I mean if you start doing that then whats next, day care being the same way? I think maybe certain classes being separated is ok, but for the most part, I think it is HORRIBLE idea. Whoever said it should be a private school option ITA. Public schools DO NOT need to do this. How are our kids supposed to learn how to interact with the opposite sex?

I agree. Boys and girls have been proven to learn in different ways. It would be beneficial for everyone if they were taught in different ways. The only exception to this would be if it was proven that a certain child learned better the opposite way, they should be accommodated.

I think I'm 50/50. So if they kept things like lunch, study hall, band and choir ect co-ed, then I'd go for the separate classes. Especially for things like gym and health, goodness...even high school students. Yes!
