    cord blood?

    Advertisements
i was going to post this in the TTC thread or the pregnancy one but wasn't sure if it would turn into a debate or not i also don't know if it's been done before

what do you(general of course ) think about storing umbilical cord blood?

i know that some people do do it for the "in case" or "what if's" in the child's future....ie:cancer, leukemia etc.

i know other are against it because they are against stem cell research etc.

    so would you do it?

We haven't and won't. If something happend to our kids in the future we will deal with it then, but is can be costly to store cord blood

Shoot, it's costly and a pain just to donate! I looked into donating DD's cord blood when I had her, but it was too much trouble, especially for one who was already dealing with giving birth alone since DH was deployed. And I was shocked they wanted me to pay to donate!

But I think it's a good idea if you're worried about it and willing to pay the money to store it.

I think one of my main concerns is that it may be used for cloning or something, and not what it is ment for

very good point. now that you bring that up, i wouldn't do it unless there was some sort of stipulation saying it was not to be used for that, or in the (or a) contract or something. good point!
