    Slow Cooker Beef Stew

    Advertisements
This is in the crockpot at home right now, and it already smells amazing.

    1/3 cup all-purpose flour
    1/2 tsp garlic salt
1/2 tsp fresh ground black pepper
    1/2 tsp onion powder
2 lbs chuck roast, cut into 1-inch pieces
    1 tbsp olive oil
    1 medium onion, chopped
    2 cloves garlic, minced
    1/2 cup red wine
    1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
    2 15-oz cans reduced-sodium beef broth
3 russet potatoes, peeled and cubed
    2 cups sliced carrots
1 packet McCormick's beef stew seasoning (I only used about 2/3 of it to reduce the sodium a little)
    2 bay leaves
    1 cup frozen green peas

In a gallon Ziploc bag, mix together the flour, salt, pepper, and onion powder. Add the beef pieces and shake until thoroughly coated.
In a large saucepan over medium high heat, saute the onion and garlic for a few minutes. Add the beef and brown on all sides. Transfer beef, onions, and garlic to a 6-qt slow cooker.
Deglaze the saucepan with Marsala, Worcestershire sauce, and 1 can of beef broth. Add to the slow cooker.
Add the potatoes and carrots to the slow cooker, followed by the second can of beef broth.
Add the seasoning and mix thoroughly.
    Add bay leaves.
Cook on the LOW setting for 10-12 hours.
About 1 hour before serving, remove the bay leaves and add the peas.

I decided to use Marsala wine, since I had some left in the fridge from my chicken marsala a couple weeks ago. Also, I'm sure you can use your own seasonings in place of the pre-made seasoning.

I can't wait to try it!! It smells heavenly. I'm going to serve it with crusty French bread to soak up the gravy.

    Yum yum yum!

It was absolutely perfectly delicious on a cold damp night.
