Ok here is what is going on..............
At 1 I put a banquet chicken and dumplings in my crockpot. I followed the directions for a 4 hour cook time and turned the crockpot on high. Around 4:45 I realized I needed to go get some bills paid so I turned it down to low so it would still stay warm while I was gone. Well instead of turning it down to low I turned it off and was gone for two hours alot longer then expected. When I came home I went to add the rest of the ingredients and realized it was off the food inside was still warm to the touch. So my question is this should I scrap it and not eat it so I don't get food poisoning or will it be ok? TIA |

I would still eat it. If it was still warm and covered, it should be fine.. it would be different if it had set out all day not being cooked.

I think you're fine. It was still warm, covered. You should be just fine.
Although I chicken and dumplings, and would probably eat them even if they were cold
