Looking for a good, durable coffee maker!

    Hey all =)

I'm probably the only soul on the face of the earth who has never made a cup of coffee in my entire life lol! I just don't drink it!

Howeverrrr my DB is a coffee fanatic and I want to send him a coffee maker for his birthday in Afghanistan. Are there any features I should look for, or stay away from? Which ones hold up well overseas with the guys?

    Thanks in advance =)

Oh, and I think I'm staying away from Keurig because the refills are costly and he'd go through them too quickly.

I just bought DB a Black and Decker. He loves it and it was only like $14. It has the automatic brew time so that it will start working whenever you need your coffee every day.

My parents have had only 2 Bunn coffee makers my whole like and I am 21 years old. They last FOREVER and are really fast and instantly brew it. I think they are expensive but definitely worth it! BTW, they drink at least 2 pots of coffee a day, so it's not like they were lightly used

If its for Afghanistan I suggest just getting him a $20 one from Target/Walmart. That way if it gets broken or lost it is easily replaceable. I don't think there is much difference in the lower end coffee makers. When you get into the pricey ones it can make a big difference.

I'm looking into Brew Stations so he can just fill a thermal mug and go. What do you guys think?

Just remember, unless he sends it home before he leaves, not everything you send can be brought back... I just sent one that I don't care if he leaves for another troop coming in... Just my .02 though...

His Angel- good point, I read that some people left their coffee makers. I just want one that won't break on him. I mean, guys are guys lol despite the fact that he can fix most things =)
