    Slow cooker

    Advertisements
I need a new slow cooker. I would like to keep it under $50. The digital/programmable feature isn't a big deal to me.

Most of the reviews I am seeing online say that newer models boil on low and cook much faster than normal. I am primarily going to be using this on weeknights, when I am gone for 8+ hours for class, so I need it to not overcook my meat when on low!

    Suggestions? Favorites? The $50 isn't a set number, so if it's a little over, that's do-able too.

I would like to keep it between 4.5 and 6.5 qts.

    I have this one:

I love it seeeeew much! It's huge, yes. But it's fantastical. Here's a link to the page to view spec's and stuffs! Walmart.com: GE 6-Quart Digital Slow Cooker: Appliances

Just wanted to add: Settings are warm, low and high, it has a timer, glass lid that snaps into place, and the pot part comes out of the warmer for storage/carrying. AND!!!!!! Retractable cord. You know you want it. 30 bucks! Sorry, I don't know why I'm trying so hard to sell you on this...

I have one (Rival is the brand, i think) from the 80's (wickedly bad floral pattern on it) that I bought at a garage sale in grad school like 5 yrs ago that I hook up to a plug-in timer. It cost me $3-$5 and works like a champ.

When DH & I got married, I registered for the really amazing All Clad slow-cooker they had at Williams Sonoma, but no one got it for us and I didn't feel like figuring out where to store another slowcooker at the house.
