    Printers: Inkjet vs. Laser

    Advertisements
My husband and I are looking into getting a new printer and we're leaning towards purchasing a laser printer. We currently have a Canon inkjet. Over the past 6 years, we've gone through about 3 inkjet printers. I believe our current printer is on the brink of needing to be replaced.

My husband was doing some research tonight on laser printers. The toners seem to be a little expensive, around $120, but that toner has the capacity to print 9000 pages. For our inkjet, we're currently having to replace the ink cartridge about every 3 months. They just don't seem to last as long as a laser toner would.

It seems to us that a laser printer is more cost-effective in the long run.

If you have a laser printer, would you agree with our conclusion about it being more cost-effective?

Thanks, in advance, for your input!!!

I said laser. I bought a cheap HP black and white when I was printing 500 pages of PDF for school a week. It took me 2 1/2 years to need to replace the toner (the one that came with it). It's more than paid for itself IMO.

i think laser is good if you're looking for quality printing and printing a lot of pages. i think inkjet is good if you're looking for still good quality printing but not printing so much at a time. laser is expensive, for sure, but worth it for speed and quality, in my opinion.

Since I've acquired a new couponing hobby, I'll be putting my printer to work.

I like my laser because I use it for a lot of black and white printing. If you are good without too much color it is the easiest way to go, IMO.

We don't print using color much at all, so I think this would be a good decison to make.

Laser for speed. I print a lot of pages. I found it also useful to get the copier/printer. I have saved a ton on copies as a result. It also scans.

if you want to print pictures, I would recommend inkjet, but otherwise laser is the best way to go, just let it sit before you pick the print up or the ink will smear
