In our group it's super fast. Like, if you mention you *might* want to do something, next thing you know you're being introduced as the newest person to fill that position!

To get official? I am still waiting. I was a co-leader that took about two months to get official for leader its been about two months still waiting. We did change of command plus changed buildings so I am letting them get settled. The training you can do with out being official look at your ACS training dates for that. The other paper work you need is from the commander signed stating your in the position. Another training I would get involved in is a community resources held by ACS. You can get started here https://www.myarmyonesource.com/sitemap.aspx with becoming a volunteer to log in hours and doing some online training

I have about 30 hours of training for the leader position so far. So it is a lot. Just a warning
