Ombudsman - the good, the bad and the ugly!
I'm thinking of applying for an ombudsman position. Can anyone tell me what it is like to be one? I need to know realistically what I'll be doing and how much time will be asked of me. I want the full story - don't spare me the gory details!
TIA |

It differs on the type of duty station you're at. If you're the Ombusdan for a deploying unit, then it's going to entail much more and require more time.
I was Ombudsman and FSG President for our last duty station. It was shore duty and the unit was non deployable. The XO was really good about keeping me up to date and in the know and I spent a couple hours a week dealing with it. I would do it again in a heartbeat. |

![]() The unit will be deploying in a few months' time, which is why they need more ombudsmen. |
