Confused Any Mary Kay consultants out there?!? I've got a ?...

So, I attended a MK party a couple weeks ago and purchased some items. The consultant said if I purchased anything over $100, I could get another item for 1/2 off. Ok great. I chose to get an item that was regularly priced at $30. Now here comes the dispute...

Is it normal MK practice to charge the customer tax on the regular price of the price at which I'm getting the item?! The consultant charged me tax on $30, not $15. The way she explained it was misleading!!!

So said, "But you still do get 50% off, EXCEPT I take off the $15 at the end." Meaning she took off the $15, AFTER she calculated the taxes.

To me, this is conniving practices. It's TRULY not 50% off. It's more like 48% off........

I sell Mary Kay, and I would only charge tax on the amount you purchased, not on the 'full retail amount'. She is making profit off of your taxes that way, not much, but a buck or two depending on your state.

I think I need to fully wake up before getting online in the mornings. For some reason, I did not connect you and your screen name.

Well, I called MK and they said that even is a consultant purchases an item at 1/2 off, the consultant is still charged tax on the full priced item.

This is frustrating. I don't think I'll be doing business with MK anymore....
