I just recovered a hard drive from a laptop that had crashed almost a year ago. I've been completely devastated and have spent literally the whole year researching how I can recover this hard drive and was thinking it would just have to wait till we could pay whatever it took... but I DID IT!!

I recovered the stuff I was heartbroken to lose - like pictures from the DAY i met my husband in person, all our eHarmony chats from when we were first matched, wedding dress shopping, engagement pictures, Disneyland - its all there!!

UGH. FML.

I can preview the photos - they look fine and aren't corrupt but I went to recover them/save to new hard drive and I have to purchase the dang program. It's not a cheap program so it'll have to wait. I'm glad its an option though... I just hoped I could do it for less money.

EASEUS Data Recovery Wizard Professional. I downloaded the free trial versions but the full program is $500. They had a cheaper option that is $70 but that version didn't recover them like this one did.

what kind of laptop is it? Did you look into removing the harddrive and putting it into an external housing and then just using it as an external drive? There is a trick to giving your new computer access privileges to get to the data, its been a couple years since Ive done it (so I dont remember the steps off the top of my head) but I didn't need any third party software. All it cost me was the housing for the harddrive.

Thanks - putting it into the housing didn't work. I could view files but not the ones I was looking for because it wouldn't show them. With it in the housing I need the program to suck the files off.
