When is it to much?
Care packages that is?
Taking to Dhs sister today, and his mother I found out that they have all been buying things to send to him. One sister, sent a 20 pound box, his mom has 2 boxes she wants to send, and his other sister has 3. I have 3 as well. But my plan was to send one every two weeks or so. But they all want to send his right away. I tried to tell them, that I am sure he will appreciate it all, no doubt, and that I am very thankfull that his family is being so kind and generous but I think its to much to send at one, and that they should space it out. Because space will be limited for him, and we dont know yet what its going to be like once he actually gets to iraq, with what he will need, or wants, or what he cant take with him. But they dont understand? Am I being dumb? All together they all wanna send like over 10 boxes in the next week or so. |

I know my db wasn't getting a ton from his family so I sent one every week. I send my last one on Friday. But when it comes to the volume that his family is sending, I would space it out as best you can. Also, people tend to be gung ho about sending care packages at the beginning but I'm sure it will taper off a bit

You are NOT being dumb! They have limited room & unless it is something they specifically asked to have sent to them (I sent DB an external drive for his comp. soon after he got there) it is ridiculous to send that much stuff! They do realize he is going to be there longer then a week right?? And that he is going to have to tote back anything that isn't food??

There are two pictures that my hubs sent that I thought of right away when I saw this...
Here Robin engages in what I call "HESCO Shopping". The end result of too many care packages in Iraq. When someone gets more stuff than they know what to do with they'll put the excess out on the HESCO barriers that surround the cans so people can graze on the goodies as they pass by. ![]() The "end of deployment garage sale".. When the Joes get oo much crap to take home with them, they have Yard sales.. ![]() Maybe you could forward those pics as a joke???????????? |
