So this is towards the beginning of our first deployment and I have a few care package ideas I want to send him for different things such as birthdays/holidays. Is there somewhere I can find a list of things that you can or can't send in a care package?

There are two sets of rules: those from the US postal system, and those for the area where he's located.

So you need to look at the website for the postal system to see what isn't allowed. And then you need to ask him what isn't allowed in his area. And you also want to consider how much space he has. Depending on his living arrangements and the type of deployment, his space may be pretty limited.

Something I keep in mind is DB didn't have any spare room on the way over there so anything I send has to be able to be left there (given to other ppl when he's done) or eaten...other than of course letters/artwork/pictures which we always include

Like previous said the one is where they are. Example: I had friends who were boots on grounds we couldn't send pork products or even magazines like maximum.

But say my husband who is always on a ship can get pork and porn. Not saying it gets sent but the locations can be a big deal.
