    soda in care package?

    Advertisements
I have read some of the old threads on this but I'm wondering if anyone has recently sent soda or bottled beverages in care packages and has any tips or had any success with it. Thanks.

No, I wouldn't do that. The would probably explode at some point. Not sure where he is but I would assume he can get soda at the dining facility.

My Mom sent me salsa once and it made it and the next time it was everywhere.

I used to send my former partner creme soda (in cans) to Iraq years ago, it was never a problem. Don't know how that would work anyplace else.

I sent sparkling white grape juice to Afghanistan for New Years. I bubble-wrapped the bottle a bunch and then I put it in an XL food saver bag and vacuum-sealed it, leaving some air space in case it exploded.

I know people have talked about sending Red Bull/Monster, that type of thing and having no problem.

I never sent anything carbonated, I don't think. I don't remember doing it. Anytime I sent anything liquid, I triple Ziplocked it just to contain mess if anything happened.

I'm paranoid about stuff exploding...his other stuff getting ruined or him potentially getting in trouble...so I, personally wouldn't risk it.

I sent soda bottles pretty much every time. Nothing ever happened to them.

Thanks everyone. I am going to try. The post office said it is ok to send, but to wrap it etc. and no guarantees. I will send it by itself just in case. He hasn't been able to get any since he got there and he loves mt. Dew. I guess the stock very little and its gone before he gets to it. He will definitely be suprised.

I sent DH cabs of monster and cola all the time. Just zip lock bag each can individually and make sure they are packed with padding and sealed in the bags in case any bust. Of all the ones I sent cases full He only ever had one can burst.
