when is it safe to send chocolate?

I'm trying to kind of plan out my care packages, but DB doesn't really like candies he's much more into chocolate. Hes going to be in afghanistan for deployment, so when can I start sending chocolate without it getting completely destroyed by the heat?

    I want all of them!!

dh said to send them right away. He said they might melt, but they'll harden again. He doesn't care about the shape just the taste lol

    That's what I did too.

They did melt but DH didn't care. I sent a bag of those "fun sized" bars because there's extra wrapping just in case, and it's easier to eat them that way when they're melty.

But you'd be amazed how much crap you can cram in them with careful planning!

Depends on where is is/what he needs. I used to find these Mexican drinks he liked and I'd send those...sour candy, hot/warm packs for his hands/body/boots for when he was out on patrol. I sent him a silly Star Wars package with tons of stuff he probably just threw away . Sometimes, DH's food supply got cut off (when he was in Afgnahistan), so when I found that out, I started sending easy stuff for him to make, like mac n cheese/Ramen noodles/soup/gummies. I sent him a bra one time...make them fun and lively ..

I was told to wait till Oct & not to worry about sending chocolate cause they'd get tons of halloween candy. campbell's came out with these soft pouch packets of soup that I send DF. I sent him tons of instant coffee, tea packets, baby wipes, that's about it.

If he likes garnola I sent a big bag of that, that he loved. I try to send DB his favorite magazines once a month, when they come out. Or little fun things, deck of cards, I sent a desk top mini ping pong game. One fun thing I did recently is i was online at borders and I saw a "Black book pocket" copy of the Karma sutra (sorry this maybe TMI!). So I bought and I went through and flagged all the stuff that sounded fun to me. I put a sticky note on it that said
    -Dear___
I flagged the things I want to try in here when you get back. Feel free to flag the stuff you want to do and send it back .
Just make it fun and stuff you think he misses from home. Also DB told me even if he doesn't find a use for something or doesn't want it. Someone out there will, so either way you made someones day good .
