Customs Forms?

Exactly how detailed do you get on a customs form? Do you normally just put "baked goods" or do you specifically write something like "12 chocolate chip cookies, vacuum sealed?"

You're *supposed* to be as specific as possible - but when I send to Iraq and am sending expensive items, I generalize without being too general but not too specific because I do not want anyone to steal the items. But then again, I also get insurance on the packages, but I have always used things like "video games and gaming accessories" to describe the box full of 7 PSP games and a Sony PSP. SOme people will tell you differently, but this is just what I do.

We sent "decorative glass bottles" home to the States for Christmas. We conveniently forgot to mention they were FULL of Sake!

And before anyone starts harpin' on me about it being a Federal Offense ...... I KNOW!

Thanks. That's what I do, but I was just wonderin what everyone else does. There was a customs form sittin here on my desk, and it got me thinkin.

Although, I rarely am specific because I'm always sending expensive items (movies and video games) so I don't want those stolen.

BTW, did you know that the insurance is only covered while the package is still in the US. Once it leaves, it's out of USPS control.

That sounds like something I would do
