    Baked Goods Question...

    Advertisements
Hi All ... I've been sending DB care packages for a few months now... Each time with a different kind of homemade cookie. I'm wondering, Has anyone ever tried to send brownies, or cake batter bars, or rice krispies treats?? Or anything besides cookies?! Just looking for a little variety, but don't want to send him something that is going to go bad before it gets to him (he usually gets care packages 7 or 8 days after I send them).

    Thanks!

    J

PS - First time posting on here, hope I did it right!

Cookies, brownies, ect just wrap individually in plastic wrap & then throw them into a zipblock bag.

Cake in a jar can also last months if it's unopened.

    Brownies work out pretty well.

Just be careful about anything that is not cooked with butter or milk in it. Some cookies I know of are not cooked, therefore they are not safe to be unrefrigerated for that long.

That's what I was thinking... I'll just have to check out the recipes first.. Sometimes I make a batch of cookies and let them sit for 7 days then test them out to make sure they're okay before sending them.. Hahaha

If OP is talking about the same thing I make, they're pretty much cake mix turn cookie.

I would eat too many of those warm with a couple scoops of vanilla ice cream.

That's why when DH is deployed, I try not to send him too many baked goods. I'd eat them all. I pretty much live on that girl's site when he's gone.

I made cupcakes for DH's birthday earlier this month. We ate probably 3 each that night. And I had 5 the next day. I told him that either he takes the rest to work or he needs to throw them in the trash. The next morning they were in the trash. It made me sad. But at least he listened to me.
